The MHSA/NOW 2017 Conference

The 2017 biennial MHSA Conference is to be held in South Australia. The South Australian Branch in partnership with the University Of South Australia’s Narratives of War (NOW) will hold a combined conference with the theme of “Generations of War" which will embrace not only the World War 1 but a century of service by the nation’s armed forces. This will be conducted at the University’s City West Campus in Adelaide on 17-19 November 2017. Further details are on the National Conferences page.


Vale Ian Barnes OAM, RFD, ED, KJ, SJ

Members of the Military Historical Society of Australia sadly note the passing of Ian Barnes on Friday 25 August 2017.  Ian was a Fellow of MHSA and President of the former Geelong Branch of the Society.  Ian, who with his wife Margaret was an avid militaria collector, founded the Geelong Branch in 1960 and formed the branch re-enactment group in July 1993.
