Pat has had successful careers in both the Australian Defence Force and industry over 40 years, when he stepped down from his full time role in August 2016. Currently, Pat is a company director and sits on a number of Company Boards, Advisory Boards and committees, including Not For Profits (NFP), with specialties in areas of corporate governance, structure and strategy. He is recognised as a ‘trusted advisor’, resulting in recent engagements with various government agencies, as well as appointment to industry councils and companies.
Pat’s MHSA experience spans more than 50 years, starting in Victoria, then WA, the ACT, back to Victoria and finally returning to WA in 2001. He has held a variety of Branch positions in different States and the ACT, as well as being a Federal Councilor some years ago. On two occasions he has been directly responsible for driving the reinvigoration and reformation of Branches that were in a state of decline. In 2008, Pat was recognised as a Life Member and the accolade of Fellow of the MHSA.
Since 1972, Pat has been a passionate militaria collector, amateur researcher and committed MHSA member. He feels strongly about the preservation, promotion of military history and related military matters in a wide context. Pat believes he can bring a variety of skills, knowledge and engagement in what is evolving as a more distributed model of governing the MHSA for the future, especially utilising the broader technology mediums available for organisations to utilize cost effectively today.
