Anthony Staunton – Military Medal Citation Service
Anthony Staunton joined the Society in 1976. He graduated in Business Studies (RMIT) and History (Deakin University) and worked for 35 years in the Departments of Defence and Veteran Affairs. He has a lifelong interest in the Victoria Cross and has accumulated an extensive reference collection on the subject and has written numerous articles and books.
His Military Medal Citation Service is a specialist service which provides a report with details and reasons for medal recommendations that are unavailable from the Australian War Memorial website. If details cannot be ascertained then there will be no charge. An invoice for $A50 will be sent with the report and will be payable on receipt. Anthony offers a 10% discount for MHSA members. Katrina Kittel – Historian and Author
Katrina holds a Bachelor of Arts (History) from The University of Newcastle and a graduate diploma in library science from Charles Sturt University.
Katrina is an Associate member of Professional Historians Australia.
Since 2011, Katrina has researched and written about prisoners of war during the Second World War. She has expertise in searching archive and library collections. She has provided research assistance to individuals for their book projects, and to associations, regarding veteran experience in both first and second world wars, drawing on both primary and secondary sources.
Katrina resides in regional NSW and visits Canberra and Melbourne annually to access non-digitised archival records. She researches digitised archival and other records online.
To access hard-copy files when not in Canberra or Melbourne, she draws on the research services of others to access files on her behalf.
She also collaborates with researchers in other countries.
Katrina has written for Sabretache journal and is the author of Shooting Through: Campo 106 escaped POWs after the Italian armistice, published 2019.
Katrina has been a member of MHSA since 2013.
In 2013, Katrina was awarded the Emerging Writer’s Prize in the Sabretache Writers Competition for her article ‘Hymns and Hints: A Prisoner of War’s Notebook in Italy’. This was published in Sabretache, Volume 54, No:4 – December 2013.
